Brief Description:  Nose wheel fairing (36is)

I spent some time awhile back fitting the aft section to the out dated fwd section before I realized that I needed a new bracket and new fwd fairing. So now that I have the new fwd fairing it just doesn’t seem to fit very nice. I was using the correct pattern template, but I kept getting a bulge in the fit between the top and the side…so much so that if I tried to sand it smooth, then I would sand all the way through it. My solution was to build up the inside with epoxy/flox mixture, clamp it together and let it set up. Once set I plan to sand it down smooth. While I was waiting for it to set I completed the gear leg fairing. I seemed complicated but went together nicely.
I was having a less than stellar day at work, so I left early to stop by the hanger and check out how the epoxy was setting up, but it was such a nice day and I hadn’t really tested out the plane since installing the gear, I thought it was about time. I only took it for one run around the patch, but it was enough to see that everything was working great and it was one of my best landings and my shortest flight so far. It was a picture-perfect day smooth clear skies and all by myself in the pattern.
