Brief Description:  Prosealing R Aux Tank Ribs

Tonight, I got even deeper in the ProSeal action on the right auxillary fuel tank. With the stiffeners in place, riveted and prosealed, it was time to do the dreaded ribs. I decided to follow a technique I read about on VAF that a lot of people seemed to like. I applied the proseal to the skin, not the ribs, then inserted the ribs, nose first. After the nose holes were clecoed, I continued to cleco aft-ward on each rib until every hole had a cleco in it, and it was in the cradle. Then I used a Semco filet tool to filet the edges. I apparently laid a little too much proseal, because the amount that squeezed out under the rib flanges was more than enough to filet, and then some. I figure, next time I will lay a little less down; about a 3/16" bead ought to be enough. I was probably closer to a 1/4" or even 5/16" bead. Oh well, better to have too much than not enough under the ribs. So, the technique folloews that you're supposed to let it sit, clecoed for 18 to 24 hours. This is enough time for the proseal to start curing, but still remain pliable under the rib flanges. I'm a little worried it will set up faster than that, but I've received some pretty good advice from the VAF group, so I'll go for it. Tune in tomorrow to see if it worked...
