Brief Description: Riveting the Rudder Trailing Edge
Tonight I riveted the trailing edge of the rudder together. I was a little nervous after reading about all the troubles people have had with crooked edges. However, by using Pro-Seal to hold the skins and AEX wedge together, it was easy to keep the edge straight. To drive the rivets, I used my pneumatic squeezer to "half-drive" each rivet and hold it in place. I ended up putting all of the factory heads on the sime side, but I installed them in a random pattern. After they were all in, I flipped the rudder over and used the rivet gun, mushroom set and back-rivet plate to set the shop head in the dimple on the other side. It took a little getting used to the feel, but they all turned out great. When I was done, it was difficult to tell which side was the factory head and which was the shop head.
