Brief Description: Cradle assembly and riveting ribs
Assembled tank in the cradle and began removing, sealing, and riveting ribs in place one at a time. Using the advise of other builders, I found that 22 grams of Pro-seal", (Mixed weight) was just about the perfect amount of each individual rib installation and sealing of the edges. Each batch was mixed "By Weight" using my digital "gram" scale.
All internal ribs were sealed using the "Fay" method. In that method, the rib is installed with sealant and fully "Cleco'd" in place. Then let dry for 24 hours before riveting. All rivets are then "Sealed" by coating the heads with a fresh dab of sealant and riveted in place, and the shop head sealed with sealant.
After riveting, special attention was paid to cleaning any "sealant tails" from inside the fuel tank as these can later break loose and find there way into the engine fuel supply.
