Brief Description: Installed heat shield and Trim Tab. AP knob work
49-16: Cut heat shield pieces using the previously cut templates. Sanded the areas on the Cowl Bottom around where the edges of the heat shield will be located. The heat shield pieces I cut are larger than in the plans and I ran short of the material. Placed 3 pieces of heat shield on the Bottom Cowl and applied epoxy resin around the edges. I'll get extra heat shield film from Van's to finish this step.
7A-02: Got AD-41 ABS pop rivets from Van's and riveted the trim tab to the rudder.
58: Ordered and received the Skyview Autopilot Knob modules. Started the installation work by clecoing the F-00073 Template to the Center Panel, removing the Skyview EFIS and the Garmin SL-40 radio, and placing plastic aprons at the back and front of the instrument panel. Match-drilled #27 holes and then scribed the panel for cutting. Placed tape around scribe lines and cut holes in the center panel with a rotary tool with a cutting wheel. Had to do a lot of filing and sanding to get the modules to slide in easily in the slots. Some of the powder coating around the holes peeled-off while cutting and sanding.
