Brief Description: Installed ADAHRS stiffener, drilled holes for engi
Section 46-10: Continued final-drilling the holes for the Engine Ring Mount. Despite using new drill bits it still took hours to complete this step. As before, I used progressively larger drill bits until reaching the final size of 3/8. After finishing the left hole I inserted an AN6 bolt and the prescribed hardware to tightly secure the Nose Gear Assembly and then final-drilled the hole on the right side. Deburred the holes and placed an AN6 bolt in the right hole also. For today, I spent about 3 hours to finish drilling the 2 holes. I’ll need to borrow an engine hoist to hang the engine.
42C-09: Worked on installing the ADAHRS stiffener. First, I drilled-out the 10th rivet (from aft of the F-1283C J Stiffener) from the Top Skin and J Stiffener, and then clecoed the F-00062 ADAHRS Stiffener. Match-drilled 16 holes through the Stiffener into the Top Skin and deburred the holes. Riveted the Stiffener to the Top Skin. This completes the ADAHRS Stiffener “upgrade.”
N14-05-22: Back to the Canopy Latch Switch Retrofit. The instructions on this notification are somewhat confusing and not all of the steps seem to match the text associated with the figures. I tried to remove the snap bushing at the bottom of the Roll Bar Assembly but the material has hardened and I would have to destroy it to pull it out. I decided to leave it alone. Drilled a #12 hole inboard of the cockpit eyeball light and use it as the exit for the WH-00109 wire. I used a different approach to route the wire through the Roll Bar Assembly. I advance a safety wire from the bottom of the F-12126 wire tube and pulled the end through the #12 hole that I drilled. I then attached the other end of the safety wire to the WH-00109 wire and was able to easily pull the latter wire through the tube and hole. Will continue with the this notification tomorrow.
