Brief Description:  First Engine Start

33-02 and 33-03: Installed the F-1214 Step Floor Cover and the F-1230 Tunnel Cover.

28-02: Installed the VA-104-3 Red Knob to the F-1259G Fuel Valve Bracket Handle. Placed all the screws in the F-1227 Seat Ramp Cover.

PAP G6-1: Put fuel in the tank for engine start today. I have approximately 6 gallons in the tank.
Rick Morse, fellow EAA 242 member and RV-12 builder, flew in on his RV-12 to check the plane and help me start the engine. We removed the valve covers from the cylinder heads and oil gushed out from all 4 cylinders. He checked the lifters and the were firm. Replaced the valve covers. Removed the top spark plugs and turned the prop. The EFIS showed good oil pressure and we replaced the plugs. While "burping" the engine oil started flowing out of the Oil Tank. We drained oil from the tank until the level was between the MIN and MAX lines and continued with the burping. After final check of the connections and the systems we pulled the aircraft out of the hangar. Started the engine and let it run for a short while. Some oil sprayed out of the exhaust. Started the engine a second time and let the oil temperature to reach 122 degrees F and it took several minutes. The engine ran smoothly and all the engine indicators were fine. The oil spray from the exhaust stopped on the second engine run. Shut the engine down and checked for leaks. No fuel or oil leaks were found! This is a very important milestone on my build!
