Brief Description: Work on right wheel assemby and Canopy
35-02, 35-04 and Matco Manual: Removed the right wheel assembly so I can re-torque some of the bolts that were rotating and could not be tightened. I'm almost certain that I had torqued the bolts before but somehow they may have loosened. I had to remove and install the wheel assembly twice because I forgot to check the bolts that connect the brake disc to the wheel. Greased the bearings with Aeroshell 22 and installed a new cotter pin in the Axle. Torqued all the bolts/nuts to 100 in-lbs. Also torqued the bolts securing the Brake Disc to the wheel assembly. Applied torque seal to all of the bolts. Removed the sawhorses and lowered the plane on the floor.
34-16: Removed the NAS1149FO463P washers from the pivot bolts (between the Canopy Frame and Fuselage) of the Canopy because they created a large gap between the forward part of the Canopy Fairing and the Fuselage. Replaced the washers with thin ones (NAS1149FO432P), one on each side. The gap is much better but the lower forward corner of the Canopy Fairing hits the longerons when the Canopy is rotated upward. Filed and rounded the lower forward corners of the Canopy Fairing. Also sanded the upper forward part of the faring so it does not contact the Upper Fwd Fuselage Skin when it is in the fully open position. I may need to sand it a little bit more later to allow space for painting (in the future).
51A-06: Removed the protective cover from the Aft Window and cleaned the window with Plexus spray. Installed the PLA OPEN placard on the window aft of the Canopy Latch.
SB 16-08-24: Inspected the rivets attaching the WD-1204 Engine Mount Brackets to the F-1202B Panel Base and they are tight. The airplane has not flown yet and this is not an issue at this time.
I got a David Clark DC One-X headset and tested it. It sounds a lot better than my old headsets.
