Brief Description:  Tested Trim Servo. Removed L80 and L82 wires

Retested the Trim Servo motor by connecting 12 volt battery to the wires coming from the motor. The motor works. One part I don't need to replace. Took the Garmin SL-40 com radio to the local A&P to get it tested. It does not power up. The inline fuse in the box was OK. So, there is something wrong with the board inside the radio. I'll need to send it Garmin for repair or replace it.

Reviewed Section 42D, Skyview Update Instructions, again to make sure I did not do anything wrong. Also reviewed and compared the RV-12 Electrical Schematic that I downloaded from the VAF forum which included the conversion harness and SV AP Knob Module wiring. I concentrated on the wires that go to the Options harness because whenever it is connected to the Control Module there is a short in Pin 1 in the Switches receptacle of the Control Module. I noticed that wire L-80 (Yellow/Purple) Cockpit Lights+ and wire L82 (Yellow/Green) Cockpit Lights- that go to Pin 25 and Pin 18 of the WH-RV-12 Optional d-sub connector, respectively, are cut in schematic. In my harness both wires are still connected. L80 joins with WH F177 (Red) in a butt splice which connects to WH 179 (White). L82 joins with WH 178 (Black) in a butt splice which connects to WH 180 (White). Both WH 179 and WH 180 go under the Panel Base.

I removed both L80 and L82 wires from the Optional connector and re-installed the Strobe Power wire in Pin 9 of the Switches d-sub connector that goes to the back of the Power and Switch Module. Connected the Switches connector to the Power and Switch Module and tested the Nav/Strobe fuse receptacle with a multimeter and there was no short. Connected the battery and and pressed the Nav/Strobe and Nav switches and the fuse did not blow. I hope this corrects the electrical issue which has dragged on for a couple of months. The AP Disconnect switch light turns on when either the Nav/Strobe or Nav switches is in the ON position.
