Brief Description: Check stab cable tension, cut spring in flap handl
32-14: I was able to borrow a tensiometer from the Airport FBO and checked the stabilator cables tension. Even with 4-5 threads showing beyond the ends of the turnbuckles I was seeing 45 lbs of tension at 72 degrees Farenheit of temperature. I asked the local A&P to check what I was doing and he agreed with my measurements. Will contact Van’s to see what to do next.
Notification 15-10-10: Cut ½ inch from the VA-114 Compression Spring to reduce the force to push the flap knob. Painted black the F-1266 Detent Bracket Assembly and F-1266D Stop and then re-installed. Also painted black the areas on the Panels where the black powder coating was scratched off and the mapbox hinge to match the panel. I was going to install the Camloc stud on the mapbox door but the stud is still a little short. I’ll get a 2600-5W stud to see if it will lock the door without too much force.
33-03: Installed a plastic grommet on the F-1230 Tunnel Cover where the wire harnesses and brake lines enter (or exit).
