Brief Description:  Check cylinder heads, disconnected Fuel Rtn Assy

TR-IM 92-001: Reviewed the Temporary Revision on the Cooling System. I have the new cylinder heads and temperature sensor. The revision changes the measurement of the temperature from the cylinder head to the coolant. The max temp for the coolant is 248 degrees Farenheit or 120 degrees Celsius. It was explained by Phil Lockwood at a Rotax Forum at Airventure that the coolant temp is a more accurate measure of the temp in the cylinder heads because the 912 is a liquid-cooled engine. I may need to make change to the display in the Skyview during setup.

There is a new modification to the exhaust system by Van's which positions the muffler assembly about 2 inches aft of its original location and farther away from the oil cooler. In my installation the gap between the oil cooler and muffler is about 3/8 inch. I don't know if this is sufficient but I'll wait till plane flies. If I get high temps I may have to order and install this mod.

46-11: Removed the Banjo bolt from the VA-216 Fuel Return Assembly so I can rotate the stainless steel clamp securing the "firesleeve" around the line. The clip of the clamp is touching the aluminum tube underneath it. I'm afraid the line can get punctured with the vibration from the engine. It was not hard to rotate the clamp but I'll defer re-installation until I replace the carburetor floats.

34-02: Replaced the C-1216 Gas Strut at the right side of the Canopy because I final-drilled one of the holes slightly larger. On the new strut, final-drilled one hole to 1/4 and the other one to 3/8 before installation.

I replaced the spare line I had placed with the wing wiring. I had used a thin fishing line and it may not last long or might get brittle and break. As replacement, I used thin stainless steel safety wire. I'm sure it will last much longer. Hopefully, it does not cause electrical interference.
