Brief Description: Instrument Panel and Map Box work
I ordered a new Map Box Door because original did not have a good fit, and it arrived this week. The new door already has #40 holes at the bottom and a 1/4 hole at the top for the CAMLOC fastener. Cut a piece of piano hinge for the Map Door and match-drilled #30 holes (final-drilled the Map Door). On trial fit the door has a much better fit. Match-drilled 1/4 the right instrument panel and the upper flange of he top of the map box half and then final-drilled to 7/16. Drilled nutplate rivet attach holes in the right instrument panel and upper flange of the map box for the CAMLOC receptacle. Countersunk the rivet attach holes. Disassambled the parts and deburred the holes. Riveted the map box halves together. Had to final-drill #30 the holes for the LP4-3 rivets to fit. Primed the backs of the left and right instrument panels and the map door.
Riveted the F-00030 SV Reinf Angle and the 6 nutplates to the Skyview Update Panel (left panel). Riveted 2 nutplates at the bottom of the F-00023 Center Instrument Panel.
Riveted a piano hinge half to the new Map Box Door. Per the plans I used universal head rivets but I think flush head rivets will look nicer to match the flush head screws that will be used on the panels.
