Brief Description:  Mid section battery box

So... just to warn you, I'm pretty proud of the next two posts. Because I am planning on using a Corvair engine, the first to be installed in a Savannah in fact, the CG is still an unkown. There is no doubt that it can be done as was successfully demonstrated several years ago in a Zenith CH701, the exact placement of the battery is in question. Finally I realized that the engine will be mounted as close to the firewall as possible, and that the battery would be shifted aft to balance the CG properly. But how far aft?? We won't know until I get the airplane on the scales. So how to complete the aircraft? I left the belly skin off to give me access to the aft fuselage.

I decided to built a custom battery box mid way back and utilize the two bulkheads that I installed for the extended baggage tube. The pics are not very clear, but the installation is on the bottom of the fuselage, between the tube bulkheads. My finished project, complete with lightening holes ended up on weighing 2 ounces more than the factory battery support!
