Brief Description:  First Fuselage Skin!

The front frame was added to the fuselage, this piece is much heavier than the other frames as it anchors the aileron hinge point and begins the transition to the cockpit. The rudder cables were also installed through the lower corners of the fuselage. The cable is quite heavy and pliable, quality aircraft grade stuff. The cable is supported through each frame by a nylon block that is riveted to the frame, though a wearable item it seems like it would last a while... especially with a pilot like me with lazy Cessna feet ;-)))

What excitment! I just couldn't stand it, I had to end my late night with a temporary installation of the first fuselage skin! I still need to install a conduit to support/protect the electric trim and tail strob/nav light wires. I bought a second battery box and support tray to add near the access door in the aft tail section in case I need to place the battery that far aft to get the proper CG balance with the Corvair engine installation. However, I wished everyone would give an "all up flying" weight for their engines. Most seem to fudge on the numbers :-( I was realizing that Rotex engines have a collector tank for coolant, I wonder if that's included in their listed weight? With an air cooled Corvair and an alumium cowling rather than the stock fiberglass cowl I may not be too far off... We'll see I guess. Of course I have no instructions or addtional parts for the aft battery box installation that I can find... rats!
