Man I love the Vertical Power VPX!! I needed to change one of my switched to operated the heated pitot tube... no problem. I just connected my laptop, changed the switch assignment and the amp rating for the circuit breaker, and presto! The switch instantly began operation the heated probe as I asked. I didn't have to get behing the panel and change switches, wires, or ciruit breakers. It's just really way cool!
I've been flying a rental C-182 and I was reminded of the aggravation of the intercom being dead until you switched on the avionics after engine start. Since I was logged into the VPX already, I changed the setting from the intercom being switched on with the avionics switch to the master switch. Now as soon as the master is turned on, I can communicate through my intercom throughout the entire power up, engine start sequence. The intercomm is protected by the VPX during start up. If I don't like it, I'll just change the setting with my laptop. No rewiring, no hassle, just fun to customize my entire electrical system.
