Brief Description:  Sealed up elevator tips (9-14)

This step took more prep than actual effort, but it was still messy. I cleaned up the shop and had to drill two more holes in my angle iron, so I could get both elevators on there at the same time. I didn’t want to have to do this twice. I used some of the scrap wood left over from crating to make some boards that were the same length as the elevator section and 6” wide. I used one table as the prep station and the other to hold the elevators, positioned tip to tip. I laid down some wax paper to keep the bench from getting too messy, then reviewed the process with Cyndi…sort of a dry run. I used the premixing tubes, which I can insert into my caulk gun to control the flow well. I have a left-over axel from the RV-12 build that works as a plunger inserted into the caulk gun. Once all gloved up, we started with the ribs by putting down a bead of pro-seal and spreading it with a popsicle stick. I also pre marked on the outside of the skin the locations of the foam ribs, so I could place them once all gooped up. Once the ribs were in, then we proceeded to the trail edge wedge. Cyndi laid down a bead and I spread it with my fingers, then came back with the popsicle stick to spread it evenly and thin. Make sure you keep the orientation right, because once it covered, there’s no way to see inboard vs. outboard vs. left or right. Everything seem to go smoothly, although it was getting really sticky by the end. Once all the clecos were in place I covered them with the boards and added weights. Now just need to wait a few days.
