I’m still finishing up the -12 condition inspection but managed to make a little progress on the elevator…mostly deburring and prep work. The ribs took a while to clean up with all the intricate edges. For the bends in section 9-3, I ended up sanding the edge of the workbench to give it a radius and then clamped it in place. For the actual bending, I used a block of wood to push down the surface and start the bend. Once it was bent down most of the way, I hammered it with the plastic mallet to get the 90° bend. I then finished up with sharper radius on the edge of the workbench and the plastic hammer. Hopefully it will all line up in the end.
