Brief Description: Back Rivet Left Skin, Fold Skins, Match Drill Unde
Today I started by back riveting the stiffeners and trim access reinforcing plate to the left elevator skin. Once that was done, I was ready to bend both skins to the final angle. Using my newly made folding jig, I placed the skin inside the jig with the trailing edge right up next to the piano hinge. I taped a piece of 1/8" dowel to the inside of the skin to give me the correct bend radius. Applying even pressure with both hands on top of the jig and the top and bottom ribs as guides, I slowly bent the elevator to the correct angle. I removed the elevator skin and checked the fit with the ribs. I repeated the process for the Left elevator skin. With the right skin folded, I placed the understructure in place and clecoed the skin to the structure. I then clecoed the right elevator horn to the structure and match drilled to #30. Next, I match drilled the skin to the understructure to#40. I disassenbled the elevator, deburred and dimpled.
