Started on the rudder today. I layed out the right skin on a flat surface and pulled the rudder stiffeners from inventory. Each stiffener must be cut to a differnet length and then tapered to match the rudder profile. I started by laying the stiffener on the skin and aligning the holes. I marked where the cut needed to be made with a blue sharpie. Using aviation snips, I cut the stiffeners to length. Next, I needed to mark the taper cut according to the diagram on drawing DWG 7. Using aviation snips, I cut the tapers in all the stiffeners. I repeated the process with the left rudder skin and stiffeners. I made a single punch mark on the left skin stiffeners to distinguish them from the right stiffeners. Tomorrow, I will debur all the edges with my 3M debur/polish wheel and file.
