Brief Description:  Riveting Sub-Panel Structure to Fuselage

DWG 24 shows the sub-panel structure and the rivets required to attach it to the fuselage and firewall. I started by clecoing the 2 right fwd fuselage ribs with the attached sub-panels to the fuselage. Then I clecoed the left fwd rib and left sub-panel to the fuselage. I riveted the left sub-panel F7105B-L the the center sub-panel F-7105A and left fwd rib F-7107-L using AN470AD4-4 and 4-5 rivets as called for in DWG 24. Next, I riveted all 3 fwd ribs to the firewall with AN427AD4-4 rivets. Then I moved to riveting the 2 outbd sub-panels to F-902-L/R bulkheads with AN470AD4-4 rivets. I had to use a couple of cherry blind rivets CR3212-4-2 where I could not get the rivet gun or bucking bar in. I also riveted the fwd canopy decks F-721A-L/R to the sub-panels with AN470AD4-4 rivets. Last was to rivet the F-7108B angle that is riveted to the center fwd rib F-7108A to the F-601L-1 stiffener with an AN470AD4-7 rivet. To gain access to riveting the sides I had to remove both fuel vent lines. I will reinstall these after the top skin is riveted on to have access to the F-718-L/R longeron skin rivets. Later I will fabricate the eye-ball air vent mounts once I have the instrument panel fit.
