It had been awhile since I worked on the upper forward fuselage so I started by reviewing the build manual on page 8-18 and also reviewing drawing DWG 24. This section shows the subpanel structure that supports both the upper forward skin F-7106 and the instrument panel. Earlier in the build I had fabricated all the angles and plates as shown in DWG 24. I had also finished all the subpanel structures, dimpled and primed and now I was ready to rivet the assembly together and install it to the fuselage. I still had to install 5 K1000-08 nutplates to the ends of the 3 forward fuselage ribs F-7107-L/R and F-7108A as shown in DWG 25 with AN426AD3-3.5 rivets I did this with my rivet squeezer. I clecoed the structure to the fuselage one last time to check fitment and found I needed to fabricate the F-7108C angle from AA3-032 x 3/4 x 3/4. I clamped the angle to the F-7108A fwd fuselage rib and matched drilled the holes to #30 and also match drilled the holes in the center sub-panel to the angle. I deburred and primed the angle. I removed the assembly from the fuselage. I decided to assemble most of the subpanel structure on my workbench and then cleco it in the fuselage and rivet the left outboard subpanel F7105B-L last and in place to make it easier to fit. I started on the bench riveting the F-7108C angle to both F-7105A center sub-panel and F-7108A fwd fuselage rib with AN470AD4-4,-5 and -7 rivets as called for in DWG 24. Next I riveted the right outboard sub-panel F-7105B-R to the center sub-panel with AN470AD4-5 rivets. Last, I riveted the forward engine control bracket to the center sub-panel with AN470AD4-4 rivets. I used a combination of rivet squeezer and rivet gun to set the rivets. Tomorrow I will cleco the assembly to the fuselage and rivet the left outboard sub-panel in place.
