I spent some time on the forums and reading the ACK ELT installation manual on where to mount the ELT antenna. I decided to mount it on top of the fuselage just forward of the F-708 fuselage bulkhead. Page 4, figure 4 in the ACK manual shows the doubler plate. I decided to make it from 0.040 2024 aluminum. I cut it to 2" x 4" and deburred the edges. I layed out 10 rivet locations and drilled those to #40 for AN426AD3 rivets. I deburred the holes and then used the slight curve on my vise to give the plate a slight curve to match the fuselage curvature. Then, I taped the plate just forward of the F-708 bulkhead on the centerline of the fuselage. I used the plate as a template and drilled the #40 holes through the fuselage skin. I also marked and drilled the 1/2" hole for the antenna with a step drill bit. I deburred the holes and used my dimple set with nail and hand rivet squeezer to dimple the fuselage skin holes. I machine countersunk the holes in the doubler plate. I clecoed the plate to the fuselage and checked the fit and now I am ready for some primer.
