Brief Description: Elevator Horn Inspection Cover Installation
Today, I started fitting the two F-824B inspection covers that allow access to the elevator horn/pushrod bolts. The covers are held in place with AN509-8R8 screws. The skins and covers both need to be dimpled for the screws and AN426AD rivetsas shown in DWG 44. K1100-08 platenuts are riveted to the skin. First, I deburred the edges of both cover plates and clecoed the covers to the fusalage skin. I match drilled the 8 screw holes to #12 and removed and deburred all the holes. Next, I clecoed the K1100-08 platenuts to the skin and used a screw to hold the platenut centered in the screw hole. Last, I match drilled all the rivet holes to #40, removed the platenuts and deburred the holes.
