Brief Description:  Install Fuel Lines From Selector to Wings

Installing the fuel lines from the Andair FS20 fuel selector to the wing root is a tedious job. The landing gear weldment for the RV-7A makes it especially difficult to route the 3/8" aluminum line. First off I researched several builder web sights to get ideas and techniques. I already have several spring benders and 2 excellent lever benders. I also have an excellent Parker flaring tool. I decided to use a piece of welding wire to give me an idea of the length of tubing required. I came up with 36" giving me some extra. I installed the 4 snap bushings along the leading edge of the wing spar cover supports. Using my welding wire as a template I made the first 90 degree bend from the fuel selector to a length that would line the tube up with the first snap bushing. Then next bend was 45 degrees to align the tube parallel to the wing spar. Before I started to route the fuel line I cleaned and deburred the tube end and installed the AN nut and sleeve. Using my Parker flaring tool and some cutting oil I flared the tube. Next I started to feed the left fuel line through the two snap bushings and up to the first hole in the landing gear weldment web. I slid the 3/8" spring bender over the fuel line and slowly and gently worked the fuel line through the second gear web hole and out the hole in the side of the fusalage. I aligned the flared end up with the fuel selector and threaded on the nut hand tight. I tweaked the fuel line to make sure it was centered in both holes and then did the final bend out of the fusalage hole. I double checked the clearances. When I did the wing incidence angle I also measured from the fusalage to the fuel tank fitting on each wing and made a short piece of flared tubing and marked the length on the tubing for reference later. I installed the fusalage skin grommet. I used that reference tube to cut and flare the fuel line protruding out from the fusalage to the correct length. Next I repeated the process for the right tank fuel line. Later I will seal and tighten the fuel selector fittings
