Brief Description: Wing Skin Cutout for Pitot Mast.
I started the day with my soldering iron and a straight edge. I do not want to remove all the blue plastic that protects the wing skins so I use a straight edge and my soldering iron to scribe lines along where I need to dimple the wing skins and peel that area clear. I just run the smooth tip of the iron along the straight edge. It does a great job. Next I clecoed the pitot probe mast support plate to the wing skin and marked the cutout for the pitot probe mast. Using a step drill, I made one large hole at each end of the cutout in the skin. Using a #40 drill, I made a series of holes along the edge of the cutout. I used various files to connect all the holes I had drilled until I had my rough opening. I used the same files to remove the material up to the template line and finished up with my tapered 1" scotch brite wheel in my die grinder. I test fit the mast, plate and spacer to the skin and did some cleanup filing and deburring until I had a good fir.
