Brief Description:  Rivet Aileron Bracket Assemblies to Rear Spar

With the aileron brackets finished, it was time to rivet them to the rear wing spar. I started by clecoing the two outboard aileron brackets W-414 to the rear wing spar. Each bracket calls for 9 AN470AD4 and 1 AN427AD4 rivets. I was able to use my pneumatic squeezer on the first 3 rivets on each row, but the last two on each row would involve some tool modifications. I decided to back rivet 5 of the rivets by drilling a 3/16" hole in one of my bucking bars and then inserting a cupped rivet set. This allowed me to hold the bucking bar with the rivet set against the head of the rivet and my rivet gun with the back setting set against the stem of the rivet. This worked perfect with no distortion. The last rivet, which was against the wing skin would require the standard bucking bar and rivet gun set at 65psi. The inboard aileron brackets were a little easier to rivet with my squeezer on the first 6 rivets and then back riveting the last 3 rivets. With the aileron brackets in place it was time to get the flap braces and aileron gap fairings installed.
