The two W-818 aileron pushrods are made from ST4130-035x1/2 chromemoly tubing. The two tubes needed to be cut to 23 13/16" and after marking I using my pneumatic cutoff wheel to make the cuts and a file to clean up the ends. I cleaned the tubes with Dawn and dried them before spraying primer into each tube from both ends for added corrosion proofing. Next I located the 4 AN490-HT8P threaded rod ends and using a scotchbrite pad scuffed up the edges for tig welding to the tubes. My EAA Chapter 124 has several resources including a member who is an expert at tig welding. I called him up and he was happy to weld the rod eds onto the tubes. Last step was to clean and prime the finished pushrods and store them for later assembly.
