Brief Description:  Assemble W-716 and W-818 Pushrods

Today I will start assembly of the four aileron pushrods as specified in DWG 15A. The W-716 pushrods are made from AT6-035x1.125 aluminum tubing. I located the two tubes and checked them for flaws. Each tube had to be cut to 65 25/32". I marked each tube and used my band saw to cut the tubes a hair long and then file them to the correct length. I deburred the ends and then washed both tubes with dawn and rinsed with distilled water. After drying I used SEM self etching primer and spared the inside of each tube while rotating the tube at a 45 degree angle. I repeated for the other end and let dry. While drying I located the 4 VA-111 aluminum threaded rod ends and the MSP-42 blind rivets that would secure the rod ends to the tubing. I inserted the rod ends into the tubing ends and carefully marked the location of the required 6 rivets. I made a jig to hold the tubing and using my drill press drilled the 24 holes to #30. I removed the rod ends and deburred all the holes. I primed the ends of the rod ends and inserted them back into the tubes and proceeded to install the MSP-42 blind rivets. Last I primed the outside of both tubes with zinc chromate.
