Brief Description: Fabricate Fuel Line on Pump Assembly
Bending tubing and flaring took some practice before I actually started to fabricate the short fuel feed line from the filter to the pump. Using an 18" length of 3/8" soft aluminum tubing I would need to make 2 180 degree bends and offset 90 degrees to align with the filter and pump assembly. I went through two 18" pieces and tubing resulting in a bad fit. The third piece I nailed right on the money. I installed the fittings and flared both ends with nice results. I installed the line finger tight and turned each nut an additional 90 degrees for the correct torque. Next project is the fuel selector. I had already fabricated the F-983A fuel valve plate without the elevator trim feature since I was installing electric trim. First I needed to change the 90 fittings on the fuel selector to banjo fitting. Thant was straight forward following the instructions. Using three AN4 bolts I secured the fuel selector to the plate using washers and AN365-428 nuts.
