Air box construction proceeded with many configurations attempted to allow equal length runners to each cyl head intake port and permit room for the injector bosses opposite the air horns. Eventually, a configuration proved to satisfy all the requirements. The bottom of the air box will also be the top cover of the engine crankcase. One reason for this is to save weight and space. The other reason is so the hot engine crankcase oil will heat the airbox bottom to evaporate any excess liquid fuel.
Brady welded the airbox and air inlets just perfectly. A work of art.
