Brief Description: Install Access Ports on Bottom of Upper Left Wing
Installed eight access ports across the bottom of the wing. First marked where each plastic ring will lay on the fabric with a pencil. Applied a line of glue on the marked ring and then laid the plastic ring on the glued area. Marked out on scrap fabric the eight patches needed to cover the plastic rings. Cut out the circles with the pinking shares and set them aside. Glued a patch over each of the plastic rings and wiped away the excess glue with a shop towel. Glued two small segments of fabric tape around the pitot tube mounting plate. Heated up the soldering iron and removed the center area of each of the access ports. Also melted the fabric over two of the mounting inserts on the pitot bracket. Marked the strut penetration on the wing bottom front and melted out the area. Checked the fit with the strut. Melted out some additional fabric on the inside end of the strut penetration. Marked the location for the lift cable clevis penetration on the fabric. Cut a oval patch from scrap and glued it down over the penetration point. Melted out a small area where the lift cable clevis end reaches the fabric. Repeated the process for the aft strut and lift cable penetrations on the wing. Melted out the front and rear spar ends and the holes for the aileron hinges on the wing aileron cutout.
Checked the fitting of the trailing edges of the wing stubs. They are close but will require some additional adjustments for a good fit.
