Brief Description: Completed Covering the Elevator
Ironed the fabric of both sides of the elevator at 300 degrees. Reset the iron to 350 degrees and ironed the fabric again. Applied nylon tape to the stitching holes on both sides of the elevator. Used the soldering iron to melt the holes through the tape and fabric. Installed pop rivets in all of the holds. Used the large head pop rivets in the center two holes of each of the cross brace. Applied tape over all of the rivets and set aside to dry.
Applied edge tape completely around the right side of the elevator. Applied and wiped glue from the tapes. Set aside to allow the glue to dry.
Checked the left wing aft post and removed the nuts from the top and bottom bolts. Loosen the aft lift cable turnbuckle. This is in preparation to move the post closer to the spars.
Conducted a final ironing of the elevator at 350 degrees moving the iron slowly across the fabric. Set the completed elevator aside.
