Slid the plastic liner away from the caliper bracket about a half an inch on each side. Wrapped the right side axle with a wet rag on the inside of the caliper bracket. Tig welded the caliper bracket to the axle. Clean the weld with a wire brush and inspected the weld for correct penetration around the axle. Welded any areas that were lightly welded. Repeated the process for the left side bracket.
