Brief Description: Installed Music Input and Stick Yoke
Checked the dimensions of a 3.5 mm audio jack to install it into the lower edge of the instrument panel. It required a 1/4 inch hole. Drilled the hole directly under the VHF radio and checked to be sure the plug would fit. Soldered a two wire connection to the plug connecting the red wire to both positive terminals and the black wire with heat shrink tube to the ground terminal. The ground terminal is the long one in the center. Slid a larger heat shrink tube over the jack covering the back terminals and wires and set it in place. Cut the wire from the plug at 5 inches from the plug and installed a male two wire plug on the end. Mounted the audio plug into the instrument panel. Plugged in the radio plug and measured the length of the music input wire needed to reach the plug in the instrument panel. Installed a two wire female plug on the music input wire plus a ground wire from the radio. The music input plug remains to be labeled.
Marked the control yoke for the drilling of the mounting bolt for the stick. Drilled a 1/4 inch hole through the center column of the yoke. Drilled out the front hole to fit the blind nut to be installed in the yoke. Mounted the yoke on the stick by connecting the push to talk plugs on the stick and then seating the yoke on the stick. Marked the holes on the control stick. Drilled a 1/4 inch hole through the top of the control stick. Used a small step drill bit to enlarge the front hole on the stick. Tested the mounting bolt and hidden nut and found that they did not match up on the stick. Noted the variance with the alignment of the holes. Removed the yoke and drilled out the front hole on the stick to better match the yoke. The alignment is nearly correct but ran out of day. The handles also slipped on the yoke and will have to be screwed in place.
