Brief Description:  Building Forward Brace for Left Wing Stub Step

Cut a section of steel 1/2 inch angle 16 inches long. Removed 1/2 inch of the top angle from the right end. Drilled lighting holes about every inch along the top of the angle. Estimated the angle for the 1/8 by 1/2 inch steel strap and marked the angle to cut from the end. Used a cut wheel to remove the material marked. Tip welded the strap to the bottom angle 2 inches from the left end.

Took the brace to the airplane and fitted it to the frame. The angle of the strap was too large to fit the proper position on the fuselage. Took measurements and marked the strap at the cutoff point. The short length of the angle is to be 5 1/2 inches long. Also measured the size of the plywood insert at 30 inches long and 9 3/4 inches wide. The strap will be cut off and reattached at the correct angle during the next work day.
