Brief Description:  Bending Trailing Edge for Wing Stubs

Using 18 inches of 1/2 inch aluminum pipe attempted to make a 85 degree bend at 6 inches from the end. Filled the pipe with sand and placed it in the tube bender and got to about 70 degree of bend when the pipe broke. Attempted another bend with the same results. Reset the tube bender and tried an incremental bend with the same results. Removed the sand from the pipe and tried a two step bend with success on the test pipe. The first step started the bend with the bending block set in the forward position of the bender which only allowed about a 45 degree bend. The second step positioned the bending block fully seated in the bender and would allow a 90 degree bend to occur. Using a two step approach was able to bend the two 18 inch pipes needed for the trailing edges of the wing stubs to the 85 degree bend needed.
