Brief Description: Wood Veneer Installation on Insturment Panel
Measured the length of the veneer across the instrument panel and marked for cutting. Using scissors cut the veneer sheet at length. Cleaned the surface of the instrument panel with MEK. Sprayed the surface with contact cement and set aside to dry. Sprayed the back of the veneer with contact cement and set it aside to dry.
Cut another plug for the lower end of the aft wing strut. Marked it up to fit the needed contour of the strut. Put the plug into the vice and using a router bit shaped it to fit. After a trial fitting sanded the plug further for the best fit. With the plug in place the aft strut is ready for installation back on the right wing.
Aligned the veneer over the instrument panel and laid the two cemented sides together. Set the instrument panel veneer side down and placed three heavy objects on the back to hold in place. Will leave the objects in place for 48 hours to ensure good attachment.
