Brief Description: Control Stick Modification for Aileron Control
Reviewing the travel of the stick during full aileron deflection it was determined that the throw required would not be available in a full cockpit. The legs of the occupants would restrict stick travel to about half of the available throw. One option to correct this limitation was to lengthen the control arm for the aileron connection to the stick assembly. An extension of 1 inch was considered and a tab was prepared. The extension was mounded to the existing hole for the aileron attachment and a second 3/16 inch hold drilled 1/2 inch below that attachment and bolted on. The resulting arm did not reduce the stick travel enough to obtain full through and the attachment point for the ailerons interfered with the elevator cables. A second arm was developed which was an 2 inch extension. Mounting was left for another day.
