Brief Description:  Continued Install on Lower Left Wing

Installed a new 3/32 cable on the right side from the top of the front spar to the bottom of the aft spar. Used a cable clamp and vice-grips to hold the cable tight. Set up the laser marker and aligned it on the firewall. Pulled the center wing section back from the firewall until there was 4 inches of space from the firewall to the front of the main spar. Set the turnbuckle out to 3/8 inch gap on the threads and then pull the cable tight and set the cable clamp. Rechecked the alignment and found it the same. Crimped the cable sleeve next to the thimble and removed the vice-grips and cable clamp. Cut away the excess cable end and then clamped the sleeve next to the cut cable end. Tighten the turnbuckle until a 1/4 inch of threads were showing. Again checked the alignment from the firewall to the main spar remained as set.

Cut the cable ends from the front cross cables and crimped the sleeves next to the cuts. Checked the vertical alignment of the front spars on the center wing section. Tighten the turnbuckles on the left and right sides to complete the tension and cross cables.

Raised the lower left wing level with the wing stub and slid the outer wing struts down into the wing for bolting on the wing. Aligned the aft strut and installed a AN3 bolt securing it to the wing. Added the tie down bracket to the front strut mount and attempted to align the holes for the bolts. Found that I was not able to complete the alignment until I redrilled the holes with a 3/16 inch bit. Completed the installation of the two AN3 bolts securing the front spar to the lower wing.

Aligned the wing with the mounting points on the left wing stub. Was not able to complete the joining of the wing to the wing stub due to the curvature of the ribs on the end of the wing and wing stub. Will be evaluating options to allow the wings to come together during the next work day.
