Brief Description: Construction of the Turtle Back End
Measured the position for the end of the turtle back and marked the longerons. Measured across the fuselage at the marking and cut a segment of 1/2 inch steel tubing. Cut the ends at about a 55 degree angle. Cut two uprights two inches long with matching angles to the cross member. Tig welded the ends on the cross member. Cut five 1 1/2 inch segments from a piece of steel brake line and welded them to the cross member equal distance from each other. Positioned the turtle back end on the fuselage at the marked position and tacked it in place. Double checked the position and then tig welded it in place. After the welds had cooled painted it with black primer.
