Completed the welding of the cut-outs on both aft spars. Cut two 1 1/2 inch long inserts and two 2 inch inserts from 1/2 inch heavy pipe. Ground the ends for all of the inserts to provide a small taper. Placed one of the 1 1/2 inch inserts in each of the aft spars. Placed the 2 inch inserts in each of the front spars. Welded each of the inserts on to the spars.
Ground each of the aft spar ends to fit the fuselage at the mounting points, Check the fit to ensure a level attachment. Cut two 3/4 by 2 inch steal straps to weld to the bottom of the aft spars. Attach each strap to a spar with 1 inch overlap onto the spar.
Mounted the left aft spar by spot welding the spar to the frame. Check that the spar was square with the fuselage and adjusted as necessary. Check the level of the aft spar and attempted to adjust. The spot well failed. The aft spar was again spot welded at the bottom edge and again adjusted for level. Also check and adjusted to square with the fuselage. Spot welded the main spar to its mounting point. Adjusted for level and square. Welding to follow.
