Brief Description: Construction of the Wing Stub Spars
Fitted the two angles together to form a box using one heavy and one light angle. Cleaned each angle with acetone. Spot welled each seam in four places. Repeated for the second set of angles. Tig welded each seam on both boxes. Ground off one edge which was extended beyond the box side taking care not to remove much of the weld.
Ground one end of the main spar stub to fit the round under the lift cable attachment. Repeated for the second main stub. Marked the other end for the wing attachment fitting on both spars. Drilled a 1/2 inch hold through the spar at a right angle to the divots in the other end. Repeated for the second main spar.
Marked and drilled a 1/2 inch hole in each of the aft spar stubs in the same relative position as the main spar stubs. Marked and cut a 1 inch L shaped slot below each hole in the aft spar. Used the material which was removed to fill in the opening in the spar.
