Brief Description:  Design Wing Stubs and Start Construction

Drove out to visit Robert at Airdrome Airplanes to discuss the design of the wing stubs and pick up material for their construction. Took five 1/2 inch aluminum tubes to bend for the wing ribs on the stubs. Completed the bending of the wing stub ribs and stored them back in the truck. Worked with Robert on the design of the main and trailing wing stub spars. The main spar is going to be constructed from a 1/8 by 1 inch square tube 14 inches long with a triangle support flange. The aft spar is going to be a 1 X 2 inch steal box 14 inches long. Material was cut per the design requirements. 1 x 2 inch 90 deg angle iron 14 inches long was provided to construct the aft spar boxes. Material was also included to add a supporting flange to the bottom of the fuselage at each attachment point for the spars.

Cut the existing mounting points in half removing the bottom part. The wing attachment will now move to the end of the wing stub. However the lifting cables will still attach to the fuselage flanges. See Image 1.
