2 layers of UND glass cloth was cut. A new roll was started: UNI Fiberglass RA7715/38W F16 Lot: 40-15403 P/N 01-00641 LOC: FA04
Using dry micro, some pits and low spots in the foam were touched up. Wet micro was then mixed and spread across the foam using a squeegee.
2 layers of UND were applied to the foam. Trying to cover the foam with the cloth in the correct orientation was quite challenging. I definately could have used a second set of hands both to position the cloth properly and to mix more slurry or epoxy as required. The big difference between this and any of the practice pieces was the size of the layup. Due to the 45 degree orientations for the cloth on the layup, several pieces of cloth had to be used to cover the foam in each of the 2 layers. While applying the first layer of cloth I had to reposition UND cloth on the foam piece and I definately displaced significant portions of the wet slurry that I had applied to the foam. As long as there are no air bubbles or delaminations after its cured then I'll continue to use this part.
I applied 1" peel ply over the 45deg tapered edge and where pieces of UND cloth were butted together to try and smooth over transition areas. The layup was then scissor trimmed.
After about 1.5 hours, the fiberglass edges were trimmed as closely to the foam edges as possible using the electric scissors.
