Brief Description:  Canopy Trimming Continues

Drilling out the trim pieces for the side rails is straightforward. These can be back drilled thru the inside cabin. However the trim pieces that wrap around the rear of rear canopy is another story. I thought I would be able to backdrill these from the inside as well. And I would have been able to do it except for the two L brackets that are attached to the bulkhead. I tried every drill combination I had and still could not get anything to fit. So the only choice I had left was to us the hole duplicator tool. This worked ok but it takes a lot of time using this method. This trim piece really needs to be positioned and them locked into place. If it moves any at all, the fit around the csnopy goes away. Also when you use the hole duplicator, it causes the time piece to rise up in order to get the duplicator in the hole for drilling. It was very slow going but in the end the results are ok. I still think if you can back drill it from the inside you will get better results. First photo shows left side drilled and clecoed except for the drilling of the canopy to the trim piecies. The second photo shwos the right side with the side rail trim piece clecoed in place and the rear time piece taped down and ready for drilling. I will try to get this done tomorrow. Maybe I can come up with a better way to drilling by tomorrow.
