Brief Description:  Garmin GPS Housing - Bracing

I purchased a quick-release housing for the Garmin 696. It fits into the instrument panel nice and tight, but there needs to be a way of securing it. With the screws and nut plates that hold the instrument panel to the fuselage ribs, there isn’t much room to install anything. I finally came up with the idea of using white plastic chunks I had purchased a while back. I trimmed them so they would fit up against the ribs, then drilled holes to attach them with bolts. Next, I installed the 696 housing and drilled into the plastic. Lastly, I tapped the holes so I could just screw through the housing into the plastic.

I used a bent piece of aluminum for the top left brace.
