Here is one of those tasks that looks real easy... but ends up being rather challenging. The tiedown bar is to be attached as you are constructing the fuselage. But, my fuselage was a quickbuild. You are the fabricate the tiedown bar and drill from the inside. I toyed with the idea of reaching through the inspection plates with a angle drill... but I think it would have been impossible to get the holes aligned correctly. So, I drilled through from the back of the bulkhead.
After fabricating the tiedown bolt plate, I made a copy of the pattern and measured up on the bulkhead. (Being careful not to drill the bolt holes.) The holes I'm drilling now are for countersunk rivets.
I drilled the holes through the bulkhead, then held the tiedown bolt on the inside and drill the rest of the way. Then, riveted the thing in place.
I drilled the for the bolts through the vertical stabilizer attachment plate.
AND... I bolted the horizontal stabilizer back in place. (Getting ready for the vertical stabilizer attachment. (The second time around things sure go quicker:-)
