Started drilling the foreward strike plate, After an hour of not getting through one hole, I counted that I had ten more to do so took off to find some better drills. Got some Bosch cobalt bits. The 3/32" didn't work all that well but 1/8" and 5/32" did work well. Got the foreward plate done. Started to do the rear plate but found the location depended on where the latch ended up so started on left latch. Put bubble back on frame and placed the lock backing plate in location. Back drilled through the backing plate into bottom square tube of door and clecoed. Marked the center of lock hole and used a combination of plastic and step drills to make hole in bubble for lock.

Atttached the latch to bubble then remounted door onto aircraft. Marked location for rear strike plate, Removed door. Drilled pilot hole then clamped plate into place. Back drilled plate. Clecoed. Back drilled other two holes. Removed plate, deburred and cleaned. Bent plate as required. Riveted foreward and rear plates into place. Put a short piece of weather seal by the rear latch. Remounted door to check fit. It is good.
