Brief Description: Fiberglass tips- HS and elevators
1. Started out today doing a little file work on the transponder cut out. Its a bit better but still too snug top and bottom. Decided to move on to something else today
2. Checked for the necessary 1/8 inch gap between the elevator counter weights and the Horizontal stabilizer tips. I had previously done this and made the cuts in the aluminum but now I realize that I dont have the proper clearence and will need to trim some more. I made some new cut lines and will probably cut them after I have the elevator tips done.
3. Cut the HS tips to fit. They will need to be trimed for fit later but now they at least fit in place and I can judge better how much more will need to be trimmed off after I reinstall the elevators
4. Prepared 4 aluminum strips to use as a backing plate on the inside edges of the tips for when the pop rivits are pulled so that they wont pull through the fiberglass
5. Mixed a batch of 2 part epoxy and epoxied the strips in place on each tip and then clamped with a bunch of clamps.
HS tips put in place and marked for 1st cut
Left side elevator tip cut and fit with extra room for epoxy
