Brief Description: Rt flap bottom skin cut, rivited, and hand bent fo
1. Removed the right flap and cut off the excess skin on inbd bottom edge. This line was drawn in place at an earlier session. Filed smoothe.
2. There is a gap between the two overlapping skins on the flap bottom and needs to be rivited even though I dont see it mentioned in the plans anywhere. I marked 3 rivit locations along the overlap and drilled for 3/32 flush rivits. Deburred and dimpled. Squeezed the 3 rivits.
3. This next step required installing and then removing the flap 5 times! Each install I would check the bottom cut for proper fit with flap all the way up. Remove and file some more. etc etc until a good fit. I also hand bent the bottom skin some so that it seats nicely against the fuselage belly.
Note: Image 3 below is whith the flap up all the way. Looks great...but....the flap only retracts up to where it is in alignment with the aileron in trail. The flap fairing was then fitted to that position too. What this means is the flap will have a bigger gap on the bottom which I have heard is a comon occurance and is no big issue other than a cosmetic irritation. I have seen others address this with a bigger bend but that requires removing some of the skin from top edge so that a crease does not form in the trailing edge. I will wait until final install and adress that if I so desire at that time. For now, Its all good!
